“FUTILE DEBATES” ON TIMES NOW

When  slept the human through his dark nights, the world still remained the same. Nothing changed in the morning even after lot of protests staged .

Life has become insensitive and no one really cares or bothers to make an effort for the change.

Sitting in the living room with a cup of coffee in hand surely does instigate many thoughts ,but which are only criticism and remarks of analytical confusion.Its an entertainment which gives an illusion of an excitement when people hear those stupid , nonsensical conversations and debates on television.

Far away from reality, those who conduct or are a part of such debates are actually untouched by the pangs of poverty and hunger.

Had they seen and experienced the real trauma of struggling through the austerities of life for years , losing out all on everything, never would they tried to such a gimmick out of nothing and holding the national audience for a ransom emotionally.

For those who watch and intently get involved in the so-called debates from their homes , are fools who love to live in the illusory world. Those who really care about the day today  issues are the ones who give in their efforts to make a difference through their work, commitment ,sincere ways and diligence.

A country known for the love of gossip can never progress unless this kind of superficial debate stops. Debates where one screams and other just laughs away is hypocritical in all respect. When trying to highlight something of national or social importance, stress should be given on conveying the message and to create awareness to bring a change and not create a melodrama out of the facts to cater the audience with a spicy update on the news-hour.

* P.S: These are strictly my views and I wish to hurt no one by giving my opinion , instead I feel , if there is an urge to bring a change in the people try sincerely with real efforts.

Cost of being a human is pretty higher these days.The identity of a human‘s existence is categorized by his country, religion, his not so known caste and the known gender and lastly by his name.Every such nomenclature brings a tag along with it.The tag has its own positive and negative effects depending on the place where it is being used.
Centuries later since the Stone Age had started; we all are again lost in the crisis of identity and existence.Being a speck in this world, our nonexistent identity tries to reach atop through several means. Such efforts right or wrong are not considered, when the result is achieved.In the process, we tend to forget that we are offspring’s of mankind and not species of any animal kingdom.
As during this desperateness of being known or getting attention, we follow a path which takes us in a complete different direction.
Like the youngsters and the religious fanatics drive themselves to the edge of extremism to flaunt their views and try to enforce those on the rest of the world. While doing this, they tend to forget that extremism in any case has never been beneficial and has led to conflicts, killings, wars.
How can a race so called as human allow such gruesome incidents under the name of religion?Being human is a somewhere lost in today’s world, where we have lost the essence of kindness and humanity.
The First World is busy in reestablishing its position and trying to recover from the slumping economy, whereas the Second one is getting over the glitches of slow progress and finding new ways to get through . The assumed  Third world has never existed in the picture of the global map, unless some calamity or unrest is heard of in these countries and the rest of the world flocks in to show sympathy by aiding these.
But never have humans tried to lend a hand to the weaker, poorer, unstable sections of mankind or nations, it has always been dominated by the powerful and the hypocrites section of the society.

To live and survive in this kind of world, the lone human has lost his identity and is now known by the tags he has been born with. His nature, character, disposition remains irrelevant and so to overcome and get noticed, he has shed the skin of being human.
He now dons an animal skin and slowly getting into the instincts of those creatures, forgetting the characteristics of humanity.
The imbalance whether ecological, financial, economic or of progress always has been a threat to the mankind.
Cutting off these edges from the society and trying to make it even, shall reinstate the humaneness in being human.

The life ahead…

What do we mean by choosing a life ahead? Is it really the career that we choose makes our life or paves our path?

WE all have umpteen options when we graduate from high school and then the burden of choosing a basic branch of academics hangs on us ,which is supposed to create or form our career!

If you are a student, parent, friend, child, every one passes through this stage of life.

Each one of us  has a different perspective when it comes to choosing A parent or a child will think differently depending on their own experience or interest. What is indeed necessary is the passion that allows or persuades you to choose that particular line or career.

A job without any love or passion for that kind of work will result in unenthusiastic persons, not so efficient employees with lesser performance at work due to increasing tension and stress due to loss of interest and likeness for that particular job.

Any work when done with a zeal or enthusiasm will always bring better outcome . So when it comes to choosing careers , we need to be most alert and open to all kinds and proceed with a line which is of greater interest and for which are ready to work relentlessly with full sincerity.

Next time , when a student thinks of choosing a career, think twice…

Listen to your heart… follow your dreams to fly high.

You will never repent or need to change your path in life ever because of choosing a wrong career.

A perspective can change everything. A particular situation can have different meaning for different people.

SCENE: “A BIRD FLYING HIGH IN THE SKY”

A painter exclaims, “Wow! What an amazing contrast of colors in life”.

A scientist deduces,” This is the basic fundamental of aerodynamics and fluid mechanics. We should learn all the pros and cons from this bird’s flight, before designing a better aircraft.”

A poet wonders, “What a beauty, the scene depicts, the bird soaring amidst clouds trying to reach the peak.”

A woman sings, “Oh! How I wish I could fly as high as the bird with my wings spread by, without any destination.”

A politician screams, “Ah! That silly bird, how far does it think it can fly. It doesn’t know me, what can I do to the blue sky.”

A prisoner laments, “Hope I get to see the clouds moving and can fly freely as this bird under the open sky.”

A hunter whispers, “O!  an easy prey for me today. Wait until I catch you, there’s a net ahead to trap you.”

A follower of spiritual path, “O! How great is my Lord! He who can color the sky azure and make the tiny bird fly.” It’s his creation, how blessed I am to witness his grace before I die.”

A child gazes at the beautiful bird flying above in the clouds and smiles with innocence. It neither thinks nor analyzes but instead enjoys the moment of happiness.

So what is your perspective when you look at things?

FAILED SYSTEM !

 

When the wet soil of the unkempt village turned muddy, it became very slippery and small puddles formed everywhere. The slope of the broken huts had many holes and gaps those which allowed the raindrops and then the gush of rainfall to go inside the breaking houses…

People awaited for the rain to stop and the continuous downpour had started playing havoc. Destroying the fodder of the cattle, the harvested stock too had got wet and had been damaged.

What could they all do? They couldn’t stop or control arrival nor could decide the departure of the showers.

Science has progressed a lot says everyone; the lone farmer never understood what it meant. If anything can’t be in control of ourself,what advancement is it? Since centuries, he has stood there like other farmers praying for the stopping of the rainfall.

Had the government helped him in shifting the harvested stock to a safer place ,it would not have got wet . Does constructing a cemented or pucca warehouse to stock the grains of the whole village a huge task to do, that till today the heaps of gigantic livestock is kept in the open on the mercy of the rain gods. And when it rains suddenly, it is covered by the soiled torn sheets of polythene and tarpaulins which remind of the torn condition of the country.

What a shame! When governments change, much is talked about policies,amendments ,regulations and enquiries,basic few things if done by individuals and their  collective effort can change the condition of the country forever.

The smallest unit of administration thus which has been created at the Panchayat level of village doesn’t help nor initiate,or the higher levels do not coordinate to let such changes happen in the society leading to complete failure of the whole system of administration.

But government nowadays is run by politicians, who play politics first and then take a step for the welfare of country and humanity.

Little Sonu was yet to understand all this dirty filth of life and he was making paper boats to let the white boats sail in the puddle. His tiny sails floated and went through small puddles, like a ray of hope in the darkened night of the storm.

The Mirror of Self

Some pages from the old book fluttered and reminded me of the times when I held the fanciful favourites in my hands.

While as a kid,I cherished the enchanting pictures of the fairytales where the Russian Tsar and Tsarinas flew and galloped on horses. Those tales always created a beautiful imagination in my mind and like being in the land of the princesses for quite a time.The hardcovered books ,their illustrations were so  unique that it fascinated every child’s mind.

Even though I could never buy those costlier ones,I managed to read them while on my visit to a cousin’s place.

In growing years, the choice of books changed and the tomboyish look got more inspired with the sleuth Nancy Drew series. Believe it or not, I actually dreamt of having a career as a detective for few years.

Books have this natural tendency of creating a world which is so surreal that the reader gets involved in the characters and the situation as a part of it. That is why it is often said,

“Books are the food for  mind.”

And so we should always try to select good books. Every book has a different role to play and if aptly done,it creates a positive effect on us.The kind of writing which invokes the negativism, can never contribute towards the welfare of the society. Such books are the outcome of the frustrations of a person while of that age and that particular society. As writers are always a part of society,they write what they see,feel,understand,comprehend and realize around them.Yet it is their duty to present before the world in books not a world of fantasy ,but a place of reality with motivational thoughts,the truth with a ray of hope and practical thoughts with some inspiration and depth.Such books are the real literature of that society and culture then,which for ages shall never die or perish.

Like the legendary “Gitanjali” which shall always remain the symbol of pure thoughts of the Late.Rabindranath Tagore.

My teens had a wide range of favourites from the classics of Shakespeare,to the gorgeously written “Jane Eyre”,whether the story of “ David Copperfield”or of the innocent “Heidi”.

I got rolled over by the classical literature of that times but could hardly buy those books. Whatever I read during my childhood was all from the school library. Thanks to it,I got introduced to the variety. Fortunately or unfortunately, like every other girl,I never read Mills and Boon until marriage,neither the Sidney Sheldon’s.Even though I tried keeping rose flowers inside the books as memories ,but they faded along with the prints and writings of those books.Those were times when I tried exploring all the kinds of fictions and even liked P.G.Woodehouse for quite a long time.

The books we read mostly reflect the mindset and thought process we are in at that period of time. The level of our maturity and understanding solely can be understood seeing the type of books we are interested in. It is in these books that we try to find ourselves,our character and our nature. Every individual tries to identify himself in the characters of the book and feels strongly about it when he discovers any.

Books which often provide a sense of contentment are ones which motivate us through their characters and inspire us in times of dullness. Some infuse in us the strength of facing the real difficulties of the world while bringing a smile on our faces.

Unlike my passion, which is writing poetry, I never read poetry books in my whole lifetime.The ones which I read were those included in the school syllabus and had to be compulsorily read.

But till date two poems remained my favourite ,I remember them quite vividly for their permanent imprint on my mind, “Daffodils” by William Wordworth and  “The Highwayman”.

Nevertheless books have been the silent friends of every individual and so of mine. Today after such a long journey of life, I cherish the times when I got a book as gift from anyone or as a prize in any competition, but I am delighted that Iam  an author of four books now… and might be someday I will be the favourite of some or many ,who like me shall get inspired and cherish my books and writings.

WHO IS THE FACE OF YOUR COMPANY?

What and who represents your company? What is the distinct feature that makes your organization stand at a different level  higher than the rest?

Of course,your people,your staff and the management group that handles the  pattern,behavior,exposure,growth and  planning of your concern are the ones representing your firm.

The three level system consisting of  the lower management,the middle management and the senior management form the base of any company to run in a successful way.  It depends on the efficiency of the person in these levels and  also on the co-ordination of the employees among themselves.

An organization having people of great caliber and potentials can be at a loss if the people in that talk do not possess the quality of working together as a team and always are head on with every other person for any issue arising .

“A company hiring certain hard-core professionals out of a belief that  masters of  certain specialized areas will provide their company with  good solutions or find a way to  market their products globally or can enhance the output of their  production  is nevertheless like having a  dream “.

Every individual besides being a professional  is a person possessing  his own traits and behavioral pattern.This pattern should be compatible with the working methods of the system or should be  advantageous  to the company.If there has to be a change in the prevailing  format other than the one running in the  company, it will have certain frictions arising within the core,but not a collapse of the infrastructure.

Many organizations suddenly replace  their hired top  personnel out of a notion to accommodate the best talents available in the industry and still go around with losses in spite of having the best people with them.

“A degree of any specialized field will make one well versed with the nomenclature and thorough with the ideal ways of working that is explained in the books,but wont teach a person ,how to deal in certain situations of crisis which are unique and exceptional in every case irrespective of any country. The work experience ,the thought process , overall thinking and managing ability of the person shall endear  to the perfect solution.”

Remember what we had learnt in school is the basic knowledge,life taught us the real ways of living. So the ones who used to sit in the last benches of the school are top businessmen of our times, for they know the real art of running a company and have not stuck to any predefined written methods. They may hire excellent people to represent their company on certain levels and to know  the  views and suggestions of the so-called intellectuals.But remember the wisest of all always listens to the people around him , but  he does what his heart and mind proclaims.

For an organization to run smoothly  with success by achieving the profits and earning a repute , it is essential to have a combination of people  merging together and  blending the top brains with the wise heads and the excellent performers.

One who  cares  for the organization as much as he does for his career,the individual having a real connection for the company for which he is  working and who has  the sense of thinking alive in him to bring about the best from his team and their efforts is the one who can take the organization to a different strata.

What is needed is the sense of belonging , intelligence, dynamism in thoughts and behavior,ability to take and face risks,courage to accept challenges and the endurance to complete them along with a nature of a good human being,which when  summed can be the face of the company!

ATTRITION

In pursuit of happiness we all move from one place to another .Sometimes changing jobs,sometimes changing places in the quest to be happy and to seek happiness.We often misinterpret it as  growth in our life where we try to convince ourselves the jump from one company to another shall facilitate growth in the career graph,whereas sometimes we tend to lose our identity in knowing ourselves after getting confused over the kinds of job.

Truth is we need stability as well as the comfort zone of our working,anything that beyond our comfort level isn’t neither  acceptable nor welcomed by us.But the fact remains we do not progress until we step out of that comfort ring.To stay in a place,a career,a company for long should depend on the amount of satisfaction,contentment and progress we have in that particular job.Growth does not only mean a promotion but it involves an overall growth of the person as an individual,which enhances ,his work circle,intelligence level, general awareness,behavior and the courage of taking risks.Simultaneously the  change in place,career and job should also bring upon  happiness mentally else such a change or such a stagnant form shall deform,stagnate the person in mind.

A change in job should be for the sake of getting more exposure and responsibilities to be delivered which you are capable of and weren’t getting in the older organization,for staying in such a place than rust your active mind,but the jump  only for the sake of getting paid more isn’t the solution for a restless mind.The sense of insecurity shall always creep in,because you yourself know how much and what you deserve.

There is always a deserving level  of a person and the person himself knows it better.Expecting to get more than deserved is merely cheating self or live in a false illusion.

Attrition is today’s serious topic wherever corporate or any  organization speaks about their growth and stability.

To be able to sustain its efficient employees with satisfaction is a huge gigantic task in itself,for humans tend to get attracted by mere illusions and better pay packages.The level of attrition nowadays is much more than it was earlier ,few years back.The reason being very simple,the increasing number of opportunities,the desire to achieve more within less time,easy ways of earning more money but very seldom due to any typical  atmosphere in the organization. Problems within the  management,quality,production departments  is very common  in every company,but this doesn’t lead to any change or switch over of job.

Neither the inability to perform suddenly results in such a behavior,its more of an inconsistent behavior of an individual whose mind dangles between the two ends where he is incapable of sticking himself to any place or thought.Such a person if at all  leaves an organization,it will be better for the progress of the company to let him go. These growing percentage of attrition can be controlled well by the HR departments of the organization which a play a very vital  role in such corporate structures. While recruiting these personnel can well assess the mental psychology of an individual and any person reflecting a flickering mind with an inconsistent pattern of work profile can be termed under such category.

The main reasons for attrition are :

  1. A better pay package and good job profile.
  2. Desire to grow faster by any means.
  3. Loss of interest in the type of work and company.
  4. Monotonous work .
  5. Change of place ,city.
  6. Bad organizational structure.
  7. Frustration
  8. Insecurity of self in the present job.
  9. Insufficient growth or incentive structure .
  10. Lack of Motivation
  11. Lack of communication with the leader/superior.
  12. Personal Problems.

An organization grows,flourishes with the progress and growth of every individual working in its system.To ensure this a balanced,transparent,healthy relationship between the company and its employees should be incorporated.

A contended and happy mind never flickers irrespective of certain troubles and is always helpful in creating a healthy work environment.

So the function of  HR in any organization demands it  to be more dynamic and activated . It should understand the role of its presence and should be able to deliver the results perfectly. It thus is called human resources which can go into the depth of the very reason of attrition.

“DECORUM IN PRESENCE OF YOUR SENIORS “- SOFT SKILLS

Decorum at work is often a set of guidelines that is written and followed. There are still few codes of conduct which aren’t written anywhere nor do they find any mention in the book of organizational behaviour.

Remember the day when your boss was supposed to visit your working premises ,or your work area, did anybody tell you about the disposition you should follow and the etiquette you should have?

Besides the people around who have the habit of smudging their seniors with all the negative thoughts, there is no one who can guide you to know what exactly should be your behavior?

If you are supposed to spend more time with your boss , while  together  on a journey or a visit to a customer or be together in office,what are the points that need to be remembered?

Do you think besides talking about work there wont be any other topic to discuss? What should be the limitation of your verbal expression that would not hurt him as a person or as a senior?

Is it necessary to stay just formal with him or at times you can be casual?These are the few questions that arise in mind and storm your day when you come across such a situation.

For your behavior shall decide what lies in future for you  in the organization.

Before pointing out the details let me just tell you that at the end of the day he is your boss and his place demands respect . He might be a person of great character ,a large-heated person,still it is your duty to make sure that you do not cross the line of friendliness that he has crossed for you.Being with your senior at workplace and at other casual gatherings or visits commands different approach to him.

Few points which you need to remember:

  1. Your boss is a person who is in a senior position than yours and you need to respect his stature.Respecting does not mean to flatter him with words nor does it mean to be a timid follower.You need to give him the facts without letting down his presence in front of others.
  2. Always preinform him about any issues that has arisen which can create a problem in field or within the workplace. Before he comes to know from anybody else,if you are the person who confides in him about any such trouble,he will be rest assured of your sincerity and faith towards him and company.
  3. On certain issues you both may or may not agree completely,in such a situation make sure you don’t directly argue with  him in front of others specially his seniors.That sets a very bad example of bad leadership,which could affect his presence in the company.
  4. For any reason if you are convinced for any step to be taken or not,confide in him,prior to the meeting apprehending that a conflict there in front of everyone shall damage his position.
  5. As a senior , listen to his words with utmost attention and importance even though you feel they aren’t of any use.
  6. While conversing with him,erase the mindset of your psyche that you are better than him and could have done everything more efficiently.Such a thought shall always hamper your growth in life for it increases the ego of your self.
  7. Learn whatever you can from him by observing and by communicating. An inquisitive mind  is always progressive and your inquisitive ness to know more about the activities in the organization about work or anything else shall create a positive impression of yours.Posing to be curious hardly sustains, for you lose interest the moment you start knowing about it.
  8. Be friendly towards your senior when he is in a light mood,but never try to act over smart or cross the friendly line between .
  9. Assure him always of your work and results ,so that he develops a sense of belief in you as a person,which shall always be helpful for the company’s growth as well as you as an individual.
  10. Restrict yourself from the petty activities and the politics of narrow-minded people.Someday the tables turn and one who starts all such trivial topic suffers.Neither such a person gets any sympathy from anyone then nor can he acquire back his same earlier position of respect and power.

All these points are essential for you when you think of your code of conduct before your seniors,but imposing them without actually realizing their importance would be forceful.

Few things below would clarify your such disposition:

  1. If you respect a person ,it will not reduce your status.
  2. Being humble ,doesn’t mean being weak,in fact it means you have more endurance to sustain.
  3. Following your leader is not a way of flattering,it displays the sense of faith you have in him and your work.
  4. Helping your boss in any other work,besides being in office does not mean you are being  exploited,it says you are trusted more than anyone else.
  5. Avoiding your boss is not a way out for any situation,it shows your lack of interest in him and being in his company.
  6. Arrogance lets everyone down whether he is a senior or you.
  7. Arguing in form of a discussion is always welcome,but remember at the end of the day ,your leader’s point will be accepted,so it is better to convince him first if you are very sure of your own explanation.Such confiding will reflect your interest in the growth of the organization and not only in your own.
  8. Besides everything,if you find anything illegal or nefarious activities going on in the organization and your seniors involved in it,rather quit the job than making them realize their follies.
  9. If for any reason your senior is taking advantage of you physically,mentally or emotionally,be firm and refuse uprightly.If still unheeded directly approach the senior most person of the organization without hesitation.
  10. Code of conduct applies to everyone and hence there should also be a set of codes for the leaders too.
